I always look forward to meeting new paddlers and watching people progress in their paddling. When I see good paddlers get excited about learning from me, it gets me excited too.
Everyone wants a great roll and brace, and to learn to paddle effectively on the water, it seems. That’s what I want to help you work toward—not just during a clinic, but in the practice you take home with you.
More than a weekend of paddling
What makes a clinic valuable isn’t a “high-end” label. It’s the attention to your development as a paddler: your technique, your fitness, your mental game, and your overall relationship with the river.
At Rock Island, I have whitewater features that can serve as a classroom for foundational skills practice and more advanced technique development. The point isn’t to put you on the hardest water. It’s to use the water to work on the skills you need.
What we work on together
My coaching brings together:
- Intensive on-water coaching sessions
- Video analysis and technique breakdown
- Fitness and conditioning guidance
- Mental preparation and river psychology
- Equipment optimization
- Nutrition and recovery protocols
On the water, I want to help you understand what you’re doing and why. Video analysis gives us another way to look at your technique, break it down, and identify what to practice.
Rolling, bracing, and paddling effectively aren’t separate from confidence. When you understand the skills you’re working on and have a clearer idea of how to practice them, you have something concrete to focus on instead of just hoping the next attempt feels better.
The mental side matters, too. I look at your paddling as more than a set of strokes. How you prepare, how you approach the river, and how you think about learning are part of the work.
The Rock Island experience
The hospitality aspect is important to me, too—from the meals to the accommodations to the journey to our home. Time off the water is part of the experience, not just the gap between paddling sessions.
My goal isn’t just to help you work on your paddling during a clinic. It’s to give you knowledge, skills, and a way to approach practice that you can continue using after you leave Rock Island.
You don’t need to guess which clinic is the right fit. Tell me about your paddling, what feels challenging, and what you’d like to work on.
